Mille Miglia Aprilia Futura RST
Congratulations
on the purchase of your new TaylorMade undertail exhaust kit.
We have specifically designed your new pipes to complement the
long legged sport touring character the Aprilia Futura. Deep,
slash cut muffler tips echoes the Grand Turismo Italian thoroughbreds
of the ’60 and 70’s. We imagine you will be taking your
own road adventures and the all stainless steel construction of
the TaylorMade Mille Miglia mufflers will give you many years
of reliable service – not to mention the fact you will now
hear the heart of a big twin beating between your legs!
Preparation
Remove the following components:
1. Seat.
2. Disconnect wiring for rear light and rear license plate illumination
light (located at rear, right hand side of gas tank).
3. License plate.
4. Bag support.
5. License plate illumination light; then feed wiring out through
bodywork.
6. Loosen muffler clamps, remove rear muffler mounting bolt and
pull muffler box off tail pipes. Ensure rubber grommets at front
muffler mount remain in their frame holes.
7. Remove 3 bolts attaching rear light and passenger grab rail
assembly.
8. Remove 3 bolts retaining the rear light lens. At the bottom,
rear of the light assembly is a small ledge. Mark a point at the
center of the ledge and 5 mm from the rear edge. Drill a 6 mm
diameter hole on your mark.
9. Place the upper bridge of the new trim piece over the top the
ledge, slide the M6 x 10 hex head nut and bolt through the trim
piece and the hole you have just drilled. Tighten nut and bolt.
10. Replace the rear light lens.
11. Install license plate illumination light into trim piece using
stock bolt.
Assembly
1. Install left hand muffler onto tail pipe. Push spacer through
front mounting rubber grommet and tighten socket head M6 x 20
bolt and nyloc finger tight. Push stock rear mounting bolt through
rear mount.
2. Repeat for right hand muffler and tighten rear mounting
bolt while leaving front mounts finger tight.
3. Remove 4 x small dome headed bolts retaining top of rear saddlebag
mounting plates. Remove 2 x larger dome headed bolts retaining
rear of saddlebag mounting plate. Pull out top hat spacer from
rear mounting hole, reverse and reinstall spacer so the ‘top
hat’ is now on the outside of the mounting hole.
4. Slide trim piece and rear light assembly over mufflers and
into position. Ensure the trim piece side mounting brackets fit
in between saddle bag mounting plates and the rear sub frame.
Adjust the position of the side mounting brackets so that they
line up with threaded holes in the sub frame. Replace the stock
dome headed bolts to secure the mounting brackets and saddlebag
mounting plates.
5. Thread the license plate illumination light wiring up through
the same space as the tail light wiring and replace the 3 tail
light assembly mounting bolts. Run the taillight and license plate
wires together forward along the original taillight wiring route
and reconnect the connectors at the rear of the fuel tank.
6. Check that the slash cut tips are central in the trim piece
– their position can be ‘tweaked’ by rotating the
rear of the muffler on the tail pipe. When satisfied with the
alignment of the mufflers tighten the muffler clamps and rubber
grommet mounting bolts.
7. Check the tightness of the trim piece rear mounting brackets.
If the front edge of the trim piece is touching the muffler body
please ‘tweak’ the mounting brackets by inserting a
lever between the brackets and the sub frame and gently push the
brackets down a little until you are satisfied with the clearance.
8. Check operation of the tail light before you replace the seat.
You’re done. Now stand back, admire your handiwork
and fire her up!
After running the bike for approximately 100 miles go over all
fasteners and check for tightness.

Regarding products sold by TaylorMade Racing Inc. (TaylorMade)
e.g., exhaust systems, composites, billet parts, etc., TaylorMade
warrants these products against defects arising out of failure
due to material and/or workmanship for a period of 1 year from
the date of purchase regardless of actual "in service"
date. This warranty is limited to the repair or replacement of
the item solely at the discretion of TaylorMade. Such repair or
replacement will be determined based solely on TaylorMade’s
Evaluation of the item’s intended and actual use.
Regarding products purchased from TaylorMade but not manufactured
by TaylorMade, NO WARRANTIES WHATSOEVER are granted or implied.
Any and all claims regarding items sold by TaylorMade but not
manufactured by TaylorMade are to be referred to and disposed
of by the actual manufacturer. Claims regarding these items may
be administered by TaylorMade or referred to the actual manufacturer
at TaylorMade’s discretion.
EXCLUSIONS
This warranty does not cover finished such as plating and paint
ant their failure due to discoloration from heat or weathering
or abuse. Nor does it cover any failure due to damage arising
out of improper installation, crash damage or incompatibility
with other components, In any event, TaylorMade accepts no liability
for any damage to vehicles or persons arising out of the use and/or
abuse of a vehicle equipped with TaylorMade components, nor will
TalorMade accept liability for damage to injury or persons from
the use or abuse of the product itself, whether direct or indirect,
voluntary or involuntary. TaylorMade will not be responsible for
any dispositions made by dealers or distributors of products.
TaylorMade will not be responsible for any labor charges incurred
by the customer for the installation or removal of the TaylorMade
component or changes arising out of the collateral damage to the
vehicle or persons while installing, removing, or using any item
purchased from or supplied by TaylorMade whether manufactured
by TaylorMade or not.
RETURN POLICY
TaylorMade will not be responsible for any shipping charges by
the purchaser in returning the part to TaylorMade for evaluation.
A return authorization number and a copy of the purchaser’s
invoice or receipt must accompany all returns. Parts returned
without authorization may be refused.
